Bratislava
Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, has a population of about 460,000 and is the country’s largest city, covering a total area of 367.58 square kilometers. Located in the southwestern Slovakia, Bratislava occupies both banks of the Danube River and the left bank of the Morava River. The city is the only national capital that borders two independent countries – Austria and Hungary and it has a long and proud history that dates back to pre-Roman times.
In Bratislava, high demand of affordable housing for low costs resulted in a very low building quality. High-rise buildings in many areas are poorly insulated and aren’t airtight anymore. The cost of replacing of these buildings in a short term would be well beyond the means, because flats are owner occupied.
