The event was co-organised by coordinators Fundación CARTIF and the Spanish innovation-driven building cluster AEICE. It was opened by Carmen Devesa Fernández who is in charge of AEICE projects, before Cecilia Sanz Montalvillo, R2CITIES coordinator, delivered an overview of the R2CITIES project.

The core of the event drew on two construction companies, Crolec and Copra, each providing its insights into the R2CITIES projects. Ana-Belén Hernandez Lara (Crolec) chaired a session entitled "What best practices are replicable in other district retrofitting projects?" and Antonio Prado Casado and José Ignacio Sánchez Rubio from Copra spoke about the pitfalls to avoid for future works in residential areas.

The event concluded with a presentation by Covadonga Magdalena Granda from R2CITIES partner VIVA (Valladolid's urban planning agency) entitled "The critical role of the municipality: successes and challenges".
